PANORAMA CITY, LOS ANGELES (April 21, 2026) – At least six people were injured in a Panorama City multi-vehicle car accident near the intersection of Plummer Street and Van Nuys Boulevard.

Los Angeles County officials are saying that the incident took place around 8:00 PM on Friday night. A black sedan and a white sedan were involved in a collision at the intersection.

The force of the impact pushed at least one vehicle onto a sidewalk. A pedestrian was also hit by one of the vehicles following the crash.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help all of the injured victims. At least six people were transported to area hospitals to receive treatment.

A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Los Angeles County Car Accidents

Drivers have a legal obligation to use caution to avoid colliding with other vehicles. This requires that they maintain the safe speed at all times. According to California Vehicle Code 22350, “No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.” Several factors could contribute to a car accident.

  • Car accidents are substantially more likely when drivers are distracted.
  • Car accidents are more likely at intersections, especially as drivers are making left turns.
  • Car accidents tend to be the result of drivers that are intoxicated.
  • Car accidents tend to involve drivers that are not scanning the road ahead of them properly.

If a driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with another vehicle, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Depending on the facts of any case, there could be multiple liable parties for any collision. Not every car accident involves one driver that is completely at fault. However, the victims of car accidents are still able to receive damages for a crash, even if they were partially at fault.

Steps to Take After Los Angeles County Car Accidents

Car accidents remain a major cause of preventable injury and death across Los Angeles and the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “2024 marks the third consecutive decrease in deaths. Deaths decreased 4.4% in 2024, following a 3% drop in 2023 and a 2% decline in 2022. This improvement is in contrast to the 20% increase in deaths experienced from 2019 to 2021.” Certain actions should be taken after any car accident in Los Angeles.

  • Victims should seek medical attention as early as possible.
  • The police report created after the accident should be sought.
  • Any person that may have witnessed the collision should be interviewed.
  • Victims should seek the guidance of an experienced Los Angeles car accident attorney.

Car accidents tend to be highly preventable. In many circumstances, they involve drivers that are not paying adequate attention to the road ahead of them. Unfortunately, insurance companies will almost never accept responsibility when one of their drivers causes a serious collision. This is why it’s so important that these incidents are investigated by an outside party. Any person injured by the actions of another driver in Los Angeles is able to see some measure of accountability for a personal injury claim.
