Perris Boulevard and John F. Kennedy Drive: Three-Vehicle Crash Sends Seven People to Hospitals

MORENO VALLEY, CALIFORNIA (October 19, 2026): Seven people were taken to hospitals after a three-vehicle crash at Perris Boulevard and John F. Kennedy Drive in Moreno Valley on Monday evening, October 19, 2026, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, as reported by City News Service and Patch. Two of the people suffered serious injuries.
Firefighters were called to the intersection at about 7:40 p.m., fire officials said. Ground ambulances took all seven people to regional hospitals. According to the fire department, two had serious injuries, one had moderate injuries and four had minor injuries.
After the injured were transported, fire officials turned the scene and the investigation over to local law enforcement, Patch reported. The names, ages and current condition of the injured have not been released.
Authorities have not said what caused the crash, which vehicles were involved, which directions they were traveling or whether anyone was cited or arrested. It is also not known whether traffic signals, speed or impairment played a role. Those answers usually come from the traffic collision report, which can take weeks.
Liability for Moreno Valley Multi-Vehicle Crashes
Under California Civil Code § 1714, every person is generally responsible for injuries caused by a failure to use ordinary care, and that includes drivers. California’s basic speed law, Vehicle Code § 22350, generally requires drivers to travel at a speed that is safe for conditions, and intersection right-of-way rules apply to every driver approaching a crossing like Perris Boulevard and John F. Kennedy Drive.
- Three vehicles, more than one driver: In a crash with three vehicles, more than one driver can share responsibility. California generally uses comparative fault, which divides responsibility among everyone whose conduct contributed.
- Passengers and occupants: Seven people were hospitalized. People who were passengers, or who were in a vehicle that was struck, may generally make claims against the insurance of any driver found at fault.
- The intersection itself: Perris Boulevard is a major corridor. Signal timing, sight lines and lane design can become part of an investigation, and claims involving a public roadway follow special rules.
- The collision report: The investigating agency’s report usually records the vehicles, their directions, witness statements and any violations. It is often the first document insurers review.
These are general principles of California law, not conclusions about this crash, which remains under investigation.
Steps to Take After a Moreno Valley Intersection Crash
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration identifies intersections as one of the most common places for serious crashes, often because a driver misjudges or does not see oncoming traffic. After a crash like this one, people who were hurt and their families can generally:
- Get the report number: Ask the investigating agency for the traffic collision report number and how to request a copy once it is complete.
- Keep every medical record: With two serious injuries reported, treatment may continue for months. Keep discharge papers, bills and follow-up instructions together.
- Identify witnesses and video: Nearby businesses and passing drivers may have cameras. Video is often overwritten within days, so ask early.
- Be careful with insurers: Report the crash to your own insurer, but think carefully before giving a recorded statement to another driver’s insurance company.
In California, personal injury claims are generally subject to a two-year deadline under Code of Civil Procedure § 335.1. A claim involving a public entity, such as one based on a dangerous roadway, generally must be presented within six months under Government Code § 911.2.
