Linda Sekany Injured, Three Dogs Killed in Roseville Car Accident by Firestone Drive and Glenwood Circle

ROSEVILLE, CALIFORNIA (July 17, 2026) – A woman identified as Linda Sekany was injured and three of four dogs were tragically killed in a Roseville car accident by Firestone Drive and Glenwood Circle.
Roseville police officials are saying that the collision took place on July 1. Linda Sekany was walking her four dogs, Jersey, Dugan, Lafter, and Karat.
A truck stopped in front of them, thereby allowing the woman and her dogs to cross. Unfortunately, that truck driver began moving and subsequently hit them.
The force of the impact caused the woman to be thrown five or six feet. Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help the injured woman.
She was taken to the hospital by her son. Sadly, three of the four dogs involved with the crash later died due to the severity of their injuries.
You can help support Linda Sekany and her dogs through GoFundMe.
According to the online fundraiser, “On July 1, our dear friend Linda was hit by a truck while walking her three beloved dogs. Thankfully, Linda’s physical injuries were relatively minor, but tragically, one of her dogs did not survive. Her other two dogs remain under the care of emergency veterinarians, and while we are hopeful, it appears that complex surgeries and ongoing medical care will likely be needed.”
Liability for Roseville Car Accidents
Drivers throughout California must use caution when approaching any pedestrian in the roadway. Pursuant to California Vehicle Code § 22106, “No person shall start a vehicle stopped, standing, or parked on a highway, nor shall any person back a vehicle on a highway until such movement can be made with reasonable safety.” There are many ways that the driver may have acted negligently prior to a collision.
- A driver may have been distracted by their phone or other objects.
- A driver may have been intoxicated by alcohol or a prescription substance.
- A driver may have failed to check their blind spots before moving through an intersection.
- A driver may have failed to slow down in an area with dense pedestrian traffic.
When a driver fails to use reasonable caution to avoid colliding with any pedestrian in the roadway, this could serve as evidence of negligence. There is no excuse for a driver to accelerate their vehicle into a pedestrian from a stopped position. These types of incidents nearly always involve some amount of negligence. It is also possible that liability may extend to several parties beyond the driver determined to be at fault. In particular, this may be the case if a pickup truck was being used for some type of commercial purpose at the time of a crash.
Steps to Take After Roseville Car Accidents
Thousands of pedestrians are seriously injured or killed every year in preventable motor vehicle collisions. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, “Nearly 7,500 pedestrians have died in California between 2009 and 2018. California’s pedestrian fatality rate is almost 25% higher than the national average.” Multiple actions should be taken after any pedestrian collision in California.
- The police report created after the crash should be collected.
- Any person that may have witnessed what happened should be interviewed.
- The insurance information of all drivers involved should be reviewed.
- Victims should consider their legal options with the team experienced in personal injury claims.
Being injured in a car accident is one of the most difficult things that most people will go through. Even a relatively minor accident can have a lasting impact on a person’s mobility and well-being. The medical bills necessary to treat injuries can quickly spiral out of control. Unfortunately, insurance providers are not really interested in helping victims. They are more interested in paying out as little as possible. This is why it is so important for victims to carefully consider their legal options for the team experienced in injury claims.
